(Linz, October 28, 2013) Astronomy is the star of the show at the Ars Electronica Center this week. Astrophotographer Dietmar Hager hosts a fascinating space flight in pictures at the next Deep Space LIVE event on Thursday, October 31, 2013. And on Friday, November 1, 2013, he’ll present the constellations Gemini and Sagittarius as well as the corresponding signs of the zodiac. Speeches and presentations about astronomy will also highlight the lineup at the next Science Days this coming weekend, November 2-3, 2013.

Astrophotographer Dietmar Hager will accompany the audience on a colorful journey through the universe at the next Deep Space LIVE. A 16×9-meter projection surface lets you behold distant galaxies right up close during this evening of amazing space shots!
Friday, November 1, 2013 / Astronomy with Dietmar Hager: Gemini and Sagittarius / 6:30-7:30 PM
Dietmar Hager focuses on two signs of the zodiac: Gemini and Sagittarius. He’ll elaborate on matters of astronomical interest as well as associated aspects of mythology and naturopathy.
Saturday & Sunday, November 2-3, 2013: Science Days: Astronomy / 10 AM-6 PM
Speeches by astrophotographer Dietmar Hager are on tap at Science Days: Astronomy. On Saturday at 2-3 PM, he will go into the problem of light pollution that increasingly blots out heavenly bodies in urban environments. Then at 4 PM, Hager will present pragmatic testimony by scientists and researchers in discussing whether and how analogies can be drawn between the macro- and microcosm. On Sunday at 2 PM, he tells what insights can be derived from the development of stars to guide our efforts to deal more carefully with Earth’s energy resources. And at 4 PM, Hager invites attendees to go on an excursion through human cultural history and to see how our picture of the world we live in has changed over the millennia.
In addition to lots of speeches, there’ll be 3-D presentations and a virtual globe that’s a fascinating way to link images of Earth with visualized data.
Dietmar Hager
Dietmar Hager is a physician, astrophotographer and Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. He has worked in the field of astrophotography for over 20 years, and published his photos in international journals and textbooks. He has served as the Ars Electronica Center’s astronomical advisor since early 2011.
