Theme Tour “See the Light!”

Saturday & Sunday, December 21-22, 2013, 4-4:30 PM

The brilliantly lit shell of the Ars Electronica Center is a highlight of Linz’s cityscape. The “See the Light!” theme tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at this energy-efficient media façade—infrastructure, technology and processes to which the general public isn’t usually privileged. In Part 2 of the tour, participants can collaboratively conjure up an impressively illuminated array of LED modules. Reservations recommended: call 0732.7272.51 or send an e-mail to center@aec.at

Deep Space LIVE Family: Light Speed
Saturday & Sunday, December 21-22, 2013, 2-2:30 PM

Nothing outruns light. Photons hit 300,000 kilometers per second, and thus need a mere 1.3 seconds for a quick trip between the Earth and the Moon. So it’s no wonder that measuring this enormous speed was a tough nut for scientists to crack. Visitors attending this Deep Space LIVE Family will find out more about light’s qualities and learn why light speed is of such tremendous importance to our technology-pervaded everyday life. Speakers: Herbert Raab of the Linz Astronomical Society and Ars Electronica Center museum director Andreas Bauer.

Price: Parents and children €16 (with family ticket €12); one parent with child €8 (with family ticket €6) or valid museum ticket. Preregister via e-mail to center@aec.at or by calling 0732.7272.51.
