Deep Space Weekend: Time-lapses, Gigapixels and Panoramas

(Linz, November 23, 2015) Attention photography enthusiasts: During Deep Space Weekend on Saturday & Saturday, November 28-29, the Ars Electronica Center is the place to go for optical excitement! The visual spectrum includes Norbert Artner’s impressive Linz panoramas, Florian Voggeneder’s high-definition images of the Pacher Altar in St. Wolfgang, and Thomas Schwarz’ fascinating time-lapse shots of the hustle & bustle at the semiannual fair in Linz’s Urfahr neighborhood. Linz photographer Johann Steininger will kick things off on Thursday, November 26th at 8 PM with high-energy urban vistas and impressive interior views of Upper Austria.

Juliane Leitner of the Ars Electronica Center invites you to take a virtual guided tour of Linz via high-definition images by photographer Norbert Artner. Then Erich Meyer of the Linz Astronomical Society will screen the time-lapse film “The View from Pöstlingberg of the City of Linz.”
The Fascination of Time-lapse Photography

Time-lapse specialists Thomas Schwarz and Laurin Döpfner display artistic time-lapse images made at the Urfahr Fair and of a burning piano. Technical background details will also be provided.
Virtual Upper Austria

Johann Steiniger discusses the panorama images he produced for Upper Austria’s tourism agency and elaborates on various picture-taking techniques. Then, Heinz Gressenbauer will show how he implemented these images in a mobile application.
From Art Work to Digital Reproduction

Florian Voggeneder, a photographer and infotrainer at the Ars Electronica Center, presents images of the Pacher Altar in St. Wolfgang as examples of high-definition reproductions of artworks, and displays a few of his photography projects.
