Stream Festival @ Ars Electronica Center

(Linz, May 28, 2018) The new Stream Music Festival premieres on Thursday, May 31st in Linz. During Stream’s three-day run, festivalgoers can visit the Ars Electronica Center to experiment with sounds in the in-house sound studio, and enjoy a special program about media art in Deep Space 8K. 6-10-year-olds are invited to record all sorts of sounds and compose a piece of music with them. Admission is free of charge for everyone under 18 years of age.

Coughing, clapping, the growling of your stomach—what interesting noises your body makes! Kids age 6-10 can discover the acoustic worlds inside the Ars Electronica Center and record all sorts of sounds in the in-house sound studio.
Deep Space 8K @ Stream Festival

Deep Space 8K’s 16-by-9-meter wall & floor projection surfaces make it the ideal setting to blend sounds, images, music and computer animation. In addition to programs custom-tailored to Deep Space 8K, visitors get to partake of selected works singled out for recognition by the Prix Ars Electronica as well as interactive media art. Thanks to a specially designed laser tracking system, you can bring your whole body into play to create your own sounds.
Ars Electronica Soundlab

The 3rd Underground Level of the Ars Electronica Center houses a fully functional sound studio with several workspaces featuring modern audio software for recording, remixing and producing. Here, newbies can get their feet wet as sound engineers.
Stream Festival
This is the debut of Stream, a music festival dealing with matters of great future importance while showcasing exciting music of today. Appropriate to the festival’s setting—Linz, a UNESCO City of Media Arts—the thematic focus is on digitization and how digital technologies are bringing forth new ways of creating, distributing and listening to music. The festival program consists of several parts, each taking a different approach to the theme. What Stage, Talk and Club have in common is the interplay between the digital world, the production of music, and the reception accorded to it. Workshops will impart practical skills; talks with experts and artists will convey theoretical insights; live concerts and a jam-packed club program will showcase musical excellence.
