(Linz, 8.12.2019) At the last advisory board meeting of Ars Electronica Linz GmbH & CoKG in the current year, new rates for the Museum of the Future were agreed upon. As of February 1, 2020, the regular ticket prices will be adjusted and barriers for lower-income visitors will be further dismantled. “The fact that holders of an AKTIV Pass will in future be able to visit the Ars Electronica Center for only 1 euro is an important contribution to a barrier-free urban art and culture scene,” says Doris Lang-Mayerhofer, Chairman of the Advisory Board. “Art is an essential component of any pluralistic society and must therefore be affordable for everyone.

New tariffs from 1 February 2020
Last amended at the beginning of 2016, the new tariffs will apply from 1 February 2020. A full-price ticket will then cost 11.50 euros instead of the previous 9.50 euros, a reduced ticket 9.00 euros instead of 7.50 euros. In future, pupils in class will pay 5 euros instead of 4 euros, and a guided tour will cost 4 euros instead of 3.50 euros. An overview of all ticket prices can be found on the Internet at https://ars.electronica.art/center/de/tickets/ .

With AKTIV-Pass for 1 Euro, with Kulturpass free of charge to the Ars Electronica Center
So far, holders of a Linz AKTIV Pass can visit the Ars Electronica Center at the reduced rate of 7.50 euros. From February 1, 2020, they will pay only 1 Euro. “The functioning of our digital society will depend not least on whether we succeed in making as many people as possible co-creators and beneficiaries of digitalization,” says Gerfried Stocker and Diethard Schwarzmair of the Ars Electronica management board. “Breaking down barriers for people on lower incomes is only one, but very important, step. All those citizens of Linz who are entitled to a “culture pass” can visit the Ars Electronica Center free of charge.

Free attendance for kindergarten children and students from Linz
The Ars Electronica Center is not a temple of art, but an educational institution; the Museum of the Future also sees itself as a school of the future. “We have been working closely with Linz’s kindergartens and schools for many years, and have developed a comprehensive and exciting program to complement and support the day-to-day work of our educators,” says Christoph Kremer and Andreas Bauer of the museum’s management. Once a year, every Linz kindergarten group and school class can visit the Museum of the Future free of charge.

In 2020, members of AK OÖ will also be able to enjoy a greatly reduced admission fee to the museum. With the AKOÖ performance card, a visit in March, July, August and November costs only 1 euro. In November, there will also be the opportunity to take part in a free highlight tour and/or family tour on a selected weekend.
