These priceless treasures include the certificate granting Linz permission to hold a yearly market fair beginning in 1382 as well as an epistle dated 1490 in which Kaiser Friedrich III authorized the city’s burghers to elect a mayor. These ancient documents, centuries-old embodiments and symbols of knowledge and power, invariably evoke extraordinary fascination on the part of those who behold them.
