Summer Camps at the Ars Electronica Center Linz
(Linz, July 16, 2012) The Ars Electronica Center has a special program of activities lined up for youngsters aged 5-14 in July and August. At the Summer Camp on three consecutive mornings, kids can learn to compose their own tracks in a pro-quality sound studio, breathe life into machines they construct themselves, and perform fascinating experiments with electronic circuits.
Overview of the Summer Camp’s lineup:
Elektri-tra-trödel
July 18-20 & August 8-10, 2012 / 9:30 AM-12:30 PM each day
The Elektri-tra-trödel workshop is for 5-6-year-olds. Activities include interesting experiments with electronic circuits, producing music in the Ars Electronica Center’s SoundLab, and working with a very special magnetic mass of plasticine-like modeling material.
Ma Boter and Ro Schine
July 25-27 & August 15-17, 2012 / 9:30 AM-12:30 PM each day (except August 15: 10 AM-1 PM)
This workshop is just the thing for 7-10-year-olds who like to program robots or build their own machines. Lots of LEGO WeDo and PicoCricket equipment is on hand to make it fun and easy to bring cool ideas to fruition.
Sound Factory
August 1-3 & 22-24, 2012 / 9:30 AM-12:30 PM each day
The Sound Factory targets young sound artists aged 11-14. They’ll head out as a group to discover soundscapes in urban and natural settings, and make recordings, samples and sound collages. Back at the SoundLab, the Ars Electronica Center’s in-house sound studio, sound artist Marco Palewicz will assist workshop participants in composing their own tracks, which might even become part of the sound cloud at the voestalpine Klangwolke in September.
