Thursday, September 27, 2012 / 8 PM / Ars Electronica Center
(Linz, September 24, 2012) An astonishing visual experience awaits visitors at the next Deep Space LIVE on Thursday, September 27. HOME, a film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, invites viewers to take a trip around the world with an itinerary that includes 50 countries and 120 shooting locations. The footage used for the film shows Earth from a bird’s-eye view—an impressive display of its magnificence as well as the wounds it has suffered due to the environmental destruction wreaked by humankind.
HOME
HOME premiered in 2009. Spectacular aerial images taken with special cameras cover the entire spectrum of terrestrial topographies: for instance, a tropical rainforest, the Arctic Ocean and cities like Tokyo, Dubai and Lagos. The voice-over narration goes into ecological and social problems such as global warming, overpopulation, soil erosion, the exploitation of natural resources, the shortage of drinking water and the protection of endangered species.
