Family Tour
Saturday, September 29 & Sunday, September 30, 2012 / 11:30 AM-1 PM & 3:30-5 PM both days
The Family Tour begins with an entertaining and informative tour of the Ars Electronica Center, a presentation that also raises some thought-provoking questions about our future. For instance, how can we best configure our coexistence with robots. Or whether, in five years, we’ll already be able to turn out a new pair of sneakers at home on a 3D printer.
Deep Space LIVE Family: Mountain Gorillas, the last of their kind
Saturday, September 29 & Sunday, September 30, 2012 / 2:30-3:30 PM both days
The tropical highland rain forest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is the home of this world’s last remaining “gentle giants”—mountain gorillas, a fascinating species that is acutely endangered by extinction. To document the life of these anthropoid apes, Elisabeth & Peter Pflügl, two nature photographers from Linz, traveled to Virunga National Park, where they were surprisingly taken in by a 20-member family band of these magnificent creatures.
