(Linz, October 1, 2012) Breathtaking mountain panoramas and downhill runs on death-defying trials are on tap at the next Deep Space LIVE on Thursday, October 4. Filmmaker Hannes Mair accompanied a group of vertriders—mountain bike freeriders in rugged alpine terrain—on a tour in the mountains of Tyrol, and brought back some impressive footage of picturesque peaks and steep paths with hard rock on one side and nothing but air on the other. Vertrider Axel Kreuter will do the moderating.
Vertriding
Vertriding is mountain biking on steep trails amidst difficult, high alpine terrain. These daredevils don’t ride cable cars or helicopters to the peak. They pedal. And when that option is exhausted, they push or carry their wheels. On the downhill run, the accent is on maneuverability and technical skill.
Deep Space LIVE
The Ars Electronica Center is now hosting a Deep Space LIVE event every Thursday (except holidays) at 8 PM. Each presentation will feature ultra-high-definition imagery in 16×9-meter format and will be accompanied by expert commentary, entertaining stand-up repartee, and musical improvisation. Whether great works from the history of art, space travel, journeys of discovery in the Nanoworld, or a live concert is what you’ve come to behold, Deep Space LIVE stands for enlightening entertainment amidst breathtaking worlds of imagery. Admission is €2. Holders of a valid Museum ticket are admitted free of charge.
