(Linz, October 24, 2012) It’s time for Family Days at the Ars Electronica Center once again this weekend. October 27 & 28 from from 10 AM to 6 PM, Ars Electronica will be hosting tours designed with families in mind and in Deep Space, storyteller Claudia Edermayer will relate tales of Linz in days of yore. Then historian Cathrin Hermann of the Linz City Archive will shed some light on the respective historical context.

A journey of discovery through the Museum of the Future opens up entertaining and, above all, astounding insights into the world we live in today—and prospects for the world of tomorrow. Deep Space LIVE Family: Robbers and Knights – Once upon a time in Linz

Tales of Linz in days of yore will be the center of rapt attention at the next Deep Space LIVE on October 25. Storyteller Claudia Edermayer will relate ripping yarns including the Sagas of the Iron Hand, the Losensteiner Tournament and Bandit Chieftain Michl Landl. Then historian Cathrin Hermann of the Linz City Archive will shed some light on the respective historical context and go into the question of what these stories of knights, brigands and arranged marriages can tell us about the particular time and society that brought them forth.

Sonic Intermedia was launched as a series of concerts by Andreas Weixler and Se-Lien Chuang together with Gerfried Stocker, the artistic director of Ars Electronica. On Monday, the Deep Space turns to a large concert hall for contemporary intermedia computer music. The musicians of the BEAST of the University of Birmingham (Birmingham ElectroAcoustic Sound Theatre) will guarantee a superior listening experience. Join Jonty Harrison (UK), Director of the Birmingham ElectroAcoustic Sound Theatre (BEAST) and Prix Ars Electronica winner in 1997, together with the composers and media artists Scott Wilson (CA), Chris Tarren (UK), Tim Moyers (UK), Matteo Malavasi (IT), Andreas Weixler (AT) and Se-Lien Chuang (TW) in this extraordinary journey through experimental computer music. Admission is free.
