Family Days at the Ars Electronica Center

(Linz, November 20, 2012) The accent is on discovering, learning and having fun together as a family group this weekend at the Ars Electronica Center. Family Days on November 24-25, 2012 will feature high-energy tours of the AEC’s exhibits. In Deep Space LIVE Family, astrophotographer Dietmar Hager hosts a 3D journey through the universe and presents the latest images from NASA and the ESO. The Ars Electronica Center will also be screening a selection of impressive works of computer animation including Japanese cartoons, music videos and animated shorts produced by up-and-coming young filmmakers.
Family Tour

The Family Tour is a lively excursion through the Ars Electronica Center, an enjoyable experience that raises some thought-provoking questions about the future. What will the coexistence of humans and robots be like? And will we someday be able to produce our own sneakers at home on a 3D printer?
Deep Space LIVE Family: In the Star Garden of the Cosmos
Saturday & Sunday, November 24-25, 2012/2:30-3:30 PM both days
Deep Space LIVE Family offers visitors the opportunity to go on a virtual voyage through outer space in breathtakingly realistic 3D. Plus, Dietmar Hager, astrophotographer and Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, will spotlight the latest photos from NASA and the European Southern Observatory, and explain what the universe is actually made up of.
Ars Electronica Animation Festival
The Ars Electronica Animation Festival provides a sampling of the best works submitted to the 2012 Prix Ars Electronica for prize consideration in the Computer Animation/Film/VFX category. This survey’s spectrum includes Japanese cartoons, music videos, special effects from big-budget Hollywood blockbusters and animated works by young filmmakers. They’ll be screened non-stop in the Ars Electronica Center Seminar Room.
