(Linz, December 3, 2012) At the next Deep Space LIVE on Thursday, December 6th, astrophotographer Dietmar Hager will elaborate on how and why human beings since time immemorial have sought their orientation in the stars, and also discuss the impediments humankind has had to surmount on our way from the archaic concepts of the past to our modern worldviews. Deep Space will also be the hub of Science Days this coming weekend, December 8-9, with presentations changing every half hour. Highlights include high-definition astrophotography, 3D views of cities of Antiquity, and breathtaking videos of extreme athletes. At 2 PM, visitors are invited to take a behind-the-scenes look at Deep Space with Michael Badics, one of its co-developers, and learn more about the genesis of this unique presentation space and the technology in use here.
Deep Space LIVE
The Ars Electronica Center is now hosting a Deep Space LIVE event every Thursday (except holidays) at 8 PM. Each presentation will feature ultra-high-definition imagery in 16×9-meter format and will be accompanied by expert commentary, entertaining stand-up repartee, and musical improvisation. Whether great works from the history of art, space travel, journeys of discovery in the Nanoworld, or a live concert is what you’ve come to behold, Deep Space LIVE stands for enlightening entertainment amidst breathtaking worlds of imagery. Admission is €2. Holders of a valid Museum ticket are admitted free of charge.
Deep Space
Deep Space delivers incomparable spectacles—nowhere else on Earth can you experience photographic images, films, animation sequences and 3D applications at such high resolution in these dimensions. A total of eight 1080p HD and Active Stereo-capable Barco Galaxy NH12 projectors let you enjoy crystal-clear, 16×9-meter images displayed on the Deep Space’s wall and floor. And as if that weren’t enough, a viewing platform arrayed 5 meters up provides just the right vantage point from which to enjoy the whole mind-blowing scene!
