Wednesday, July 10, 2013 / 8:15 PM / Terra Mater LIVE: We Are Planets (3-D)
Thursday, July 11, 2013 / 8 PM / Deep Space LIVE: Panoptikum
(Linz, July 9, 2013) The next Terra Mater LIVE on Wednesday, July 10th depicts the human body as a walking ecosystem. Visitors will be able to behold breathing 16×9-meter projections of extreme slow-motion footage and images takes by stereoscopic micro-cameras and electron microscopes that deliver fascinating views of the human body and reveal that the number of microbes living on our skin’s surface exceeds the human population of the Earth. On Thursday at the last Deep Space LIVE before summer break, Ars Electronica Artistic Director Gerfried Stocker, Futurelab Director Horst Hörtner and AEC Director Christoph Kremer will moderate an online excursion that brings out interesting insights into human perception and human capabilities. This will be followed at 9 PM by a marching band concert featuring the St. Magdalena Musical Society on the Main Deck of the Ars Electronica Center. At 10 PM, weather permitting, the Ars Electronica Futurelab’s quadcopters will take to the air to form impressive three-dimensional images in the night sky above Linz. The Main Entrance of the Ars Electronica Center offers the best vantage point view of the so-called spaxel’s formations.
