EU-Copyright vs open Internet?

In adapting copyright to the digital age, the EU is facing landmark decisions. Should content be checked automatically when being uploaded to online platforms? For some this leads directly to censorship infrastructure as in China. For others, this is a remedy for copyright infringements. Should press publishers get an “ancillary copyright”? For some, this damages one of the fundamental construction principles of the Internet, namely linked documents. Others believe journalistic work can be rewarded this way. EU MEPs will discuss this topics with representatives of the art scene and civil society.
