hi, roy
did you intend to reply privately? mine was private, since i did not
realize, that the automatic reply-function did not address the list. so if
you aggree we should plant the debate into the list.
ok, a difference can be made in looking differently on a thing (container
for clusters of ideas). but, as you said last time, it makes sense only,
when the new way of looking alters/modifies/influences the practice in some
useful way. so there is a question first to be adressed, what we define as
useful (does it explain something, provide insight that can not be achieved
otherwise, is it efficent with respect to ..., etc.)
i still dont see (i read some of the memetic papers), in what respect we
can speak of a "new practice". i dont even know what you mean by past
practice. as far as i can see the (useful) developments in the domain of
artificial life are pursued more or less consistent to traditional
scientific research.
