Cyclops is a humanoid,
interactive machine with a
flexible spine and a single
eye. When you notice that
Cyclops is looking at you,
you should move as slowly
as possible! And take some
time to consider the meaning
of the term “intelligent
lifelikeness” while you’re
observing the behavior and
lithe movements of this
machine in human form.
Leading Edge Design Corp.: Designer: Shunji Yamanaka. Design Engineer: Kinya Tagawa. System Designer: Jun Homma (FLX Style). Associate Designer: Nicholas Oxley, Yuji Mitani.
Cyclops was developed for the Robotic Meme Exhibition at the National Museum for Emerging Science and Innovation, Tokyo 2001. Special Thanks to Shadow Robot Company (Air Muscles) and Nichinan Corp. (Manufacturing).
