Sirikit Amann: u19 Jury Member

Sirikit Amann (A) is one of the 'mothers' of the category cybergeneration u19 of Prix Ars Electronica – the competition for young people under 19 in Austria. She sees a growing trend towards more 'professional' entries.

Sirikit Amann works for the Austrian Culture Service, a non-profit organization which tries to foster the interest for art and culture in schools. She criticizes that last year's u19 entries have been marked by a seemingly professional touch: The works seem to be conceived for big clients by professional web firms, but if you look a bit closer you realize that many of these websites are just facades. The kids spend much time and energy on creating a good visual presence, but what is lacking is the content.
