Matt Owens: Nominating Expert Net Vision / Net Excellence

For most web designers Matt Owens (USA) is a true hero. He is running one9ine, and he makes highly regarded personal work on volumeone.com. At Prix Ars Electronica he is Nominating Expert for animation and film in the category Net Vision/Net Excellence.

Matt Owens earned his MFA in graphic design from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1995. Until 1997 Matt Owens served as a creative director at Method Five in New York where he developed web sites for clients such as National Geographic, Apple, The American Lung Association, among others.

In September 1997 Matt Owens launched Volumeone, a design studio dedicated to exploring narrativity on the Internet and to pushing the limits of available design technologies online. The experimental portion of Volumeone is updated seasonally, featuring four conceptual web 'novelties' that take full advantage of the latest technological capabilities.

In 1999 he started together with Warren Corbitt one9ine, a design firm working for clients like MOMA, MTV and Nike. Volumeone remains the laboratory of Matt's interactive experiments.
