Can there be a „true gospel“ in the age of the Internet? Footnotes on Bob Dylan, China and a changing world.

When Bob Dylan took out his electric guitar at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, he was booed. When he got back there recently, people yelled instead: “Plug it in!”

In China, the communist government imposes restrictions on content available over the Internet, banning what it does not want to see – just as the Folk fans did 37 years ago. So, what is it that makes the difference between a winning and a losing strategy in this struggle to define identities?
