If there is an info war , it's the actions taking place that will force
the nullification of information. Information is eating itself ,faster ,
louder. If you can't hear the screaming of all this information , like
schizo thoughts in your head, if the constant and intense buffeting of
information against your skull walls doesn't feel like world war 3, if
you don't feel as if life, sanity and the future depends on finding a way
to survive through what seems like hopeless odds, you probably are nowhere
near the front lines.
A friend of mine told me, in 96 there were 300,000 music cds released,
in 97 there were over a million. what information does these discs hold?
with the new electronica probably the reason for this explosive growth in
"product", we could discuss what "information" is contained in the bleeping
and whirring of electronic machine noise. If there's something there, it's
the sound of trumpets heralding the coming troops. Information is amassing
its forces, (the web can barely be discussed, it's the mutant super soldier
in this war).
And my mind asks the question, information versus imagination? Consuming
versus creating? Is this the war?
