>>>MUTATING ETHICS<<<

Since we're on the topic of war, it would be especially appropriate to be
conscious of the ethical subtext in this conference. The participants of
any conference, online or otherwise, are practicing some form of living,
mutating ethics. It's quite natural. Ethics are the protocols of
psychological linkage (and shared subjectivity), and one of the most
interesting aspects of humanoid experience it seems to me. It's the
lubricant in which we squirm.

War, in a sense, is the first draft of an ethical prescription for 2 or
more worlds merging. A whole set of class and power issues are being sorted
out. It's the crudest kind of diplomacy. The question is not: to war or not
to war. The question remains, HOW to communicate and integrate energies.

We circulate between the crude and the delicate. The crude end tends to be
painful for all sides, and in effect, sucks. The delicate end tends to be
boring. Like Claude Shannon's bell curve describing good communication
(situated in the middle between chaos and redundancy), good ethics tend to
lie somewhere in the middle between war and peace. Angst anyone?
