JLeonard, try this:
Art transforms the mundane.
Art provides another way of looking at things; it often provides new insights.
Art isn't necessarily information, though it has things in common with
information. It can inform. Art can even inform more succinctly than other
media, though it doesn't have to inform specifically.
Art is based on imagination (coupled with style), therefore it transforms
apparent content or apparent information and serves firts and foremost as a
personal expression cloaked in, hopefully, some aesthetic value.
I enjoyed -and wish to comment on- more of your contribution but I haven't the
time just yet.
You raise some very good questions worth pursuing!
