Work in Progress
Ant's-Eye View
1997
Peter Malony
The design of "Work in Progress" resembles that of the adjacent installation "Corps et Graphie"—unadorned, reduced to the bare essentials.
The world it opens up is a black-and-white arrangement of spaces reminiscent of a pen-and-ink sketch of a museum. "Work in Progress" enables visitors to use a spacemouse to explore this domain animated in real-time. Different roles and modes of perception are available to facilitate the process of discovery: visitors can slip into the identity of an ant or an insect and perceive the world from a totally novel perspective.
