The Ars Electronica Center lift takes you along on a journey through the human body. One-of-a-kind images show passengers how their own insides are laid out.
Produced through the support of the National Library of Medicine, National Institute of Health (Bethesda, Maryland, USA), the animation "The Visible Human" is based on digitized images from the interior of a human body. A frozen cadaver was sawed into numerous millimeter-thick slices, which provided one-of-a-kind picture material. The ride begins at the tips of the toes and traverses the body all the way to the top of the skull, whereby the anatomical journey is precisely synchronized to the actual speed and movements of the elevator cabin.
