Technical-artistic innovation now lets you become a part of the Ars Electronica Center’s media façade. Beam me up, Scotty!
The “Beam Me Up” project for the Museum of the Future’s media façade is the result of collaboration between the Ars Electronica Futurelab and the Fachhochschule St. Pölten. Under the supervision of Thomas Zöchbauer and Thomas Bredenfeld, 11 students from the college’s media technology program designed this innovative installation.
The human observer encounters a virtual counterpart inhabiting the world of the façade. He can interact with him and also encourage him to initiate interaction on his part, whereby image recognition and the process of interaction are fully automated. Thus, there is nothing to inhibit a complete blending of real and virtual space.
Initiated and realized in collaboration with Ars Electronica Futurelab: Christopher Lindinger, Theodor Watson, Erwin Reitböck.
