C-Leg®

2005

Otto Bock HealthCare

The use of bionics in the field of prosthesis design can improve the quality of live of people who have had a leg amputated above the knee. Researchers are taking nature itself as their model in their efforts to develop new technologies.

C-Leg® is the world’s first completely microprocessor-controlled leg prosthesis system. It enables the wearer to achieve what is extremely close to a natural gait. C-Leg® adjusts 50 times/second to the conditions of the wearer’s gait situation by measuring ankle momentum, knee angle and knee angle speed, and it reacts in real time to changes in speed.

Thanks to continuous swing-and-stance-control capabilities, the C-Leg® prosthesis system provides the wearer with security even if he/she should stumble, and it can be completely customized to the security needs of each individual wearer.
