Ever since the founding of the Ars Electronica Festival in 1979, Linz has been hosting innovative projects, symposia and performances involved with new media and cyberarts, and these have been documented in catalogs, videos, TV reports and webstreams. At the Mediathek in the Ars Electronica Center, you can access this treasure trove of material about Ars Electronica.
It was in 1987 that the first Golden Nicas were awarded to outstanding artists. The prizewinning projects in all categories have been portrayed and discussed in word, image and webstream, all of which is likewise available. There’s also interesting footage of the annual awards ceremony held in conjunction with the Ars Electronica Gala. We wish you an enjoyable sojourn in the Ars Electronica Archive!
