curious implantation

A hybrid creation made of plastic has taken up residence on the Ars Electronica Center’s façade. "curious implantation" consists of a densely woven network of white plastic ties, a disposable product employed in a radically different way than the one for which it was intended (e.g. in place of handcuffs). The material selected for use is a metaphor for the encounter of reality and absurdity.

At first glance, this piece of sculpture seems to be soft and fluffy, but turns out to be bristly and tough. It moves, seems to live and to breathe. "curious implantation" is a hybrid creation that occupies a position at the nexus of nature and high-tech.
