Landscape of Ideas
2006
Dietmar Offenhuber (AT)
Peace, stability and experience are only three of the keywords frequently mentioned in connection with European integration.
During the time leading up to "The Sound of Europe," a conference held in Salzburg in conjunction with Austria's presidency of the Council of the European Union during the first half of 2006, 250 conferees were invited to speak their mind about the current situation in Europe and to discuss the continent’s strengths and opportunities. EUROSTAT statistical data served as the second source for this Landscape of Ideas.
Dietmar Offenhuber visualized this information in the form of a semantic network that’s constructed spatially and allows the visitor to navigate individually through its structure. The font size of each respective keyword indicates how often it was mentioned; lines depict interconnections between different areas. This form of visualization makes for an intuitive approach to information.
