The Digital Age’s take on the old-time novelty of thumb-riffled “movies.” Now, the riffling is done by a computer that turns your drawings into short films.
Flipbook! is a software application that creates animated clips out of simple line drawings. Just like using a drawing board, you can create all kinds of pictures, which are then saved as individual frames and played back sequentially to produce animated imagery.
Upon completion, the film can be displayed in the Net Gallery or emailed to admirers. If you’d like to get a bit of a foretaste of this installation, you can try it online at www.benettonplay.com!
Flipbook! was developed at the Interactive department of FABRICA.
Flipbook! was honored with the Grand Prize of the 2006 Japan Media Arts Award.
