The Creative Archive Licence Group was formed on April 13th 2005 to promote the use of a single, shared user licence scheme for the downloading of moving images, audio and stills. The Group's legal framework is known as the Creative Archive Licence, and by sharing the same scheme we hope to make it easier for users to understand and to respect the framework. Any organisation which commissions, creates, owns, sells or curates video, film, audio and stills is welcome to join the Group. Membership is available to major national collections, broadcasters, and commercial organisations who wish to share content with the public on the same terms. The current members are BBC, British Film Institute, Channel 4, Open University.
BBC The BBC exists to enrich people’s lives with great programmes and services that inform, educate and entertain. Its vision is to be the most creative, trusted organisation in the world.
British Film Institute (bfi) The British Film Institute aims to champion moving image culture across the UK, for the benefit of as wide an audience as possible, and to create and encourage debate.
Channel 4 Channel 4 is the UK’s only publicly-owned, commercially—funded television channel, and has a special remit to innovate and encourage new creative talent.
Open University The Open University is the UK’s only university dedicated to distance learning. It promotes educational opportunity and social justice by providing high quality university education to anyone who wants to follow their ambitions and fulfil their potential. Through academic research, innovation and partnership, it seeks to be a world leader in supported open and distance learning.
