KANEKO Nanpei, the contributor of this year’s Ars Electronica Festival’s main illustration, is an up-and-coming illustrator in Japan who mainly works for news and entertainment magazines. His unique style of illustration and ability to collaborate on stories has attracted the attention of many magazine editors. Currently most of his illustration work covers IT issues and yet he continues to paint by hand. As he says, “Drawing only using computers does not give feeling or spirit to readers.” A magazine editor once said, “His pictures are filled with psychokinesis.”
