It was to be one of the best-kept secrets of the late 20th century. Code name: Millennium Park. A networked virtual theme park due to open in 2001. If a defector, Searchbot Ver Mela Parka, hadn’t prematurely disclosed these plans.

It would actually come as a surprise if the annual meeting of the digital circus in Linz remained untouched by the events surrounding the gigantic information construction site in cyberspace. Is Millennium Park only a cleverly circulated rumour? Or is there more to it?

If fiction and reality are mixed to a degree that stuns even us random-generated people, TNC Network can‘t be far off. In order to track down Millennium Park and its terrific attractions and interactions, TNC is configuring a networked communication sphere where parallel and converging information flows generate multiple truths independently of a physical reality. The Ars Electronica Festival is in this respect becoming a station within the media-fictional setting.

During the festival TNC's data jockeys will repeatedly try to hack into the Millennium Park information construction site. Time and place will, for obvious reasons, be communicated at short notice via the relevant channels …
