Die Luftmenschen

Arnold Dreyblatt
"Die Luftmenschen" is a kind of reconciliation with the first twenty-one years of my life before I abandoned visual media and made a decision to devote all my energies to the production of sound, and by association, music. After almost nine years directing ensembles for the performance of my music in New York and Europe and after a series of "duet" projects with various colleagues since the dissolution of the third incarnation of "The Orchestra of Excited Strings" in Berlin last year I've embarked on this solo project reflecting on personal and mass migrations. The music, composed for amplified acoustic instruments and electronics, indicates my ongoing concerns with tuning and timbre, and with instrument development. The chemically re-processed images were originally photographed as moving and still pictures by my father and myself in the late 1950's and early 1960's.
