From 1987 onwards, the Brucknerhaus Linz has chosen the main topics for Ars Electronica to focus on - in 1987, this was "Free Sound" in its many different varieties comprising sound-scenes, sound-bodies and sound-images, demonstrating sound-power and arranged as a sound-park with sound-sculptures around the Brucknerhaus where also the Europe Video Stage was established.
In 1987, the Autrian Broadcasting Corporation ORF organized the first "Prix Ars Electronica", the international computer art competition endowed with the highest prize-money - namely one million Austrian schillings. The ORF also chose "Art and Artificial Intelligence" as a general topic for the Ars Electronica Days of Computer Culture. |
