Sintflut
2003
Detlef Heusinger (AT) (DE)
The Flood, metaphor for apocalypse and primal myth not
only in Western culture, is a theme with great contemporary
relevance. Sintflut ('flood') is a composition for orchestra
and computer, visually staged as a video triptych.
Based on the apocryphal book Henoch, the project is a
blend of Akkadian, Hellenistic and Yahwist flood legends.
Henoch, God’s scribe, antediluvian patriarch and ancestor
of Noah, makes his way on a dream-journey during which
mythological figures and chimeras appear to him and bear
witness to human conceit. Obviously, we already find ourselves
in the aftermath of a global catastrophe …
