Hörfestival Aircheck I

2001

Radio FRO (AT)

The content broadcasted by free radio stations differ very distinctly from that of commercial stations. But exactly how and where do these differences show and which specific forms of expression are offered by the free radio stations? In which areas are (especially) the free radio stations' needs for sensibility and individuality higher than usually ? Which concepts do exist and how can they be developed?

The Audio Festival 2001 in Linz, Austria, offers three days of experimentation during which radio producers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland will be able to present their own ways of expression and creation; they will also have the possibility to explore new ways towards 'creating listening experience'. The main focus has (consciously ) been set to the topics actual reports (as for instance in Genoa), antiracism activities and minorities in free radio stations. The difference to the reports of commercial media is shown most noticeably in these areas.
