Mark Wilson

The drawings and paintings I create with the computer all employ an old, but still powerful computer graphic device - the pen plotter. An open flat-bed plotter is used to draw directly on canvas with acrylic paint, thus affording larger scale works than are possible with paper and pen plotters. My procedure is to create color images on the screen using a variety of permutations. These images are then transferred, pixel by pixel, to simple surfaces and projected into three space. The process is reminiscent of a digital collage. Instead of trying to disguise pixels, they become the central graphic element of the artmaking process. Perhaps most importantly, the pictures are unrealizable in any other medium. (M. Wilson)
