HONORARY MENTION
Finestra con vaso
Massimo Ontani, RGB

The image "Finestra con vaso" is born out of different stimuli: Above all, from the interest in the design work of personalities like E. Sottsass, which is evident in the modeling of the window's structure and in its material properties.
And exactly the latter are another aspect of the image's development.
A study of the simulation of different materials has been achieved through image processing techniques, starting from and completely extraneous and random photographic basic materials. The final image is thus a "mixed" product of all the techniques I use, from 3-D-modeling to the digital elaboration of extraneous materials. (M. Ontani/RGB)

She realized her image "Fast Food" in 1988.
It is fascinating to play around with three-dimensional systems in order to get nearer to some kind of pictorial realism that does still retaine the flavor of a computer generated image. I should like it the people would stop in front of an image like "Fast Food" asking themselves how it had been made, whether it is a drawing, a retouched photo, a synthetic image or else. I am not interested in creating hyper-realism in 3D, also because I do not want to compete with the air brush. But I am interested in creating images in which the stylistic solutions convive in harmony with my personal taste. "Fast Food" in particular is an assembly of elements constructed with Crystal 3D (like the table, the juke-box, the room, the chairs), of scanned photographies (the street, the plant, the sweets, the cake) and pictorial touch-ups executed with Lumena 16. It is one of the first images that I made and studied with 3D systems and this experience of work enthuses me. I gather I will develop and try to become more perfect in this graphics line when developing new illustrations. (G. Monti/RGB)

RGB Computer Graphics Service, Milan, Italy

Born in 1985 under the zodiacal aspect of the taurus, RGB Computer Graphics Service have had a notable development. Today the company's structure employs some twenty full-time dependents from creative artists to art directors and technicians, subdivided into specialized groups.

Still in 1987, the image "Space Globe" was introduced in the official billboard poster for the "Berlin - European Culture Capital 1988" event.
In 1988, Massimo Ontani's "Leopard" image was chosen for SIGGRAPH's publicity campaign for the Atlanta edition in 1988.
