The emergence of computerized image enhancement systems raises ethical and philosophical questions about notions of belief in photo-representational media. Those who have access to these technological systems have the capacity to alter, reconstruct, or create imagery reflective of the "real world" which might be passed off as representing "truth". My photographic work with computer technology is a continuation of an inquiry into the discrepancies between perceived truth, and misrepresentation in the photographic message. The images have been taken from commercial television and visually processed through the AT&T Targa Truevision Still Imaging computer system. In specific, they refer to the stylistic presentations of news broadcasting: The ways that roles are defined through an iconography of authority and other connotative components that are largely hidden behind the master narrative.
