Sandra Filippucci
Filippucci has received several scholarships from the Paier School of Art in New Haven and the Maryland Institute of Art. Her works have been exhibited in many galleries in New York, Munich, Long Island and Tokyo. She is attempting a communion of digital source imagery, large-scale archival printmaking and hand-rendering techniques.
The "Stone Age Series" submissions are about the evocation of our inscrutable pre-history lives, lives that are now more dimensional through investigatory technology but will, no doubt, always be elusive despite generational probing. They are about the magic of symbols and the poignancy and importance of memory. The Cycladic faces are, in fact, from the few sculptures known to exist from this ancient culture, all of which are women.
