HONORARY MENTION
Endogenesis
Jules Bister
'Endogenesis' portrays a fantasy world in which we encounter various organic-looking shapes. The interaction of these 'characters' creates a world of their own which is not just a 'world within the world' but which could symbolize a cycle of natural evolution. 'Endogenesis' came into being without a fully worked out storyboard. Instead I followed intuitive picture ideas which developed along n thought concept. Paintings by my wife were the inspiration, and conversations with her and with an animation designer friend contributed to the fulfillment of this concept. I wanted to create an organic, calm world of images, radiating both harmony and drama. Soft colors and gentle camerawork were, for me, very important parts of the equation. The music for the piece was written subsequently by a composer with whom I ham been collaborating closely for years. He worked solely from the images, as I did not want to exert any influence on the end result.
