HONORARY MENTION
Installatoin No. 4
David Haxton

A synthetic art gallery is a central component of my work. The art gallery ('Synthetic Gallery One') exists three dimensionally in the computer memory. This gallery can be viewed from any position desired. It possesses all of the attributes of a real space.
My interest in these works is to develop some relationship between the synthetic world (created in the computer) and the real world of the gallery where the exhibition of synthetic works (printed images taken from scenes in the synthetic space) is taking place.
In addition to the synthetic images from the computer space I have produced art objects that exist in both the real art gallery and in the synthetic gallery. These art objects include paintings, sculptures and installations. They are designed to relate aspects of the real and synthetic environments. These objects serve as a bridge between the real and the synthetic galleries.
