'Traversées II' (1992) for wind quintet and the QUATRON/PACOM real-time synthesizer quartet is the end result of the 'Traversées' project, which began in 1990 in cooperation with the LIMCA (Lutherie Informatique et Musique Contemporaire a Auch) studio, using the computer system developed by this studio.
The essential principles of the pieces are based on the rapport established between the musicians in the quintet and the 'Instrumentalist' who plays the synthesizer part in real time, and all the interactions resulting from this duality.
In addition to this there is 'vertical' and 'horizontal' structure. The musicians take solo turn,then play as a group. The structuring of the synthesizer part is also put together using solo voices in musical and spatial association with instruments, and with ‘tutti’ voices (embracing the whole space).
