HONORARY MENTION
Crash Series #3
David Sherwin
I've been working on a concept using 3D models to interact in three dimensional space. The models are first created in an abstract form then assembled in certain juxtapositions to each other. When I'm satisfied with what I see, I do a render. The levels of complexity vary depending on how many layers I create. Sometimes I compose a whole scene that then becomes the background for another whole scene and so on and on. Texture maps are constantly created and changed. When I'm satisfied with the final rendered version I then go into my image processing software and 'fine tune' the composition. This process can also create many more layers of complexity, or in some cases clarify the composition.
With the 'Crash' series I was trying both to create the tension of forms pushing into and through each other and show how the dynamics of color is effected by these forces. This series is just one of many that I'm exploring in dealing with this problem. Some of these concepts will be expressed in animation as well as still images. (David Sherwin)
