HONORARY MENTION
Move-X
Eduard Oleschak

Eduard Oleschak was born in Austria in 1959. He studied architecture at Graz Technical College. Since 1982 he has been freelance collaborator at Joanneum Research at the Institute for Digital Image Processing and Computer Graphics. He has directed video clips and fiction film since 1985. Since 1986 he has been studying at Vienna Applied Arts College. Since 1989 he has been working with Grintec software company, where he is artistic director.

Designing architect-friendly user programs led me to the idea of creating an attractive design media that would allow for animating any freely designed object within a filmed environment. The idea of creating several accessible layers and then playing around with their perceptibility was still not enough for me - I was also imaging a similar sound conception: the short history of moveX, discovering itself in a flight full of desire, is an example of how we insert computer animations into a free zoom with the manual camera in order to create a completely homogenous imagery. Such processes had not been possible hitherto without using hardly accessible computer controlled camera units. Now we calculate all camera parameters of each video half frame, including lens distortion etc. The depth over various levels shows lapses in reality and perception that cannot be but digitally overcome, although they have a long artistic tradition.
