"Phantasy Star Online" is a multi-player game that opens up new dimensions of networked gaming thanks to the fortuitous combination of game console and the Internet. The integration of innovative communication modules (such as a real-time translation tool) is especially striking.

When we first started designing this online game, we tried to come up with the best way for people to communicate and interact with each other. We decided to create an online game based on the world of Sega's legendary RPG series "Phantasy Star". That was the moment that the concept of Sega's latest RPG, "Phantasy Star Online" (PSO), was born.

4-Player Real Time Battle


In PSO, up to four players can make a group with the Real Time Online Battle System. Each player has to be alert and cooperate with each other to fight off the ferocious monsters in the game.


The offline adventure is also fun!


Players don't have to access the Internet to enjoy the game, NPC's (non playerable characters) will support players during the adventure. Battle against the dragon with NPC's, or find items while NPC's are holding the door by pushing a button. Players can enjoy the "Play-with-friends" feeling during the game even if they are not using the online play.
