COMPUTER GRAPHIC EFFECTS ON REAL IMAGES

We created this method in collaboration with Michel Gondry. It requires special lighting during the shooting, which makes it possible to analyze the image and create 3D volume. Using this volume, it is possible to recreate the lighting with computer-generated virtual lights.
In order to retain a realistic aspect, we used images of real fish to make the mermaids' tails and then matched the tails to the actresses using a warping process.
We used the software Softimage.
