The webpage http://lyrix.at of the 17-years old Dominik Dorn offers over 140,000 texts and over 38,000 registered users have now been recorded by the counter.

It all began sometime in spring 1997. One day, on our daily train ride to school, my cousin Jeanny showed me a folder bulging with song texts which she had copied out of magazines.

At the time my homepage was relatively boring – and this was a chance to pep it up a bit. So I asked Jeanny whether she had the texts on disk. Luckily this was the case.
The next day I started inserting the texts on my homepage. I then uploaded it to my server. After that came the search engine and my friends’ guest books, and it was not long till I had a few visitors. Jeanny was constantly supplying me with new texts. The number of hits rose steadily and quickly, and I began receiving emails from people and they sent me their texts. The whole thing really started to be fun, everyday there were more visitors and new texts. In May 2000 I moved to a new host and my page went online with more than 1,500 song texts. The number of visitors rose radically, my counter recorded up to 6,000 hits per day!

After a number of changes, I made a new version and the number of texts increased rather astronomically: over 140,000 texts and over 38,000 registered users have now been recorded by the counter and there’s no end in sight.
